Lavender 'King' is the bold, big-shouldered cousin in our boutique lavender family — a larger, more robust grower with deep violet-blue flower spikes and rich, silvery foliage. Where some of our lavenders are all about neat compact charm, 'King' brings real presence, making it a lovely choice as a feature plant, an informal hedge, or anywhere you want lavender to do a bit of the heavy lifting in the garden design.

Thriving in Bayside: 'King' is right at home in Sandringham's sandy, free-draining soil and thrives on the long hours of full sun our bayside gardens enjoy through summer. It's a hardy, wind and drought tolerant grower once established, coping well with the odd salty gust off the bay, and needs very little beyond an occasional deep water and a solid prune after flowering to keep it looking its best. Because it's such a vigorous grower, give it a little more room than you would a compact variety — it rewards the space with a genuinely impressive display.

  • Pot size: 15cm
  • Position: Full sun
  • Water needs: Low once established
  • Habit: Larger, upright and vigorous — a wonderful feature or hedging lavender
  • Bonus: Fragrant, wind tolerant and loved by bees

Enquire in store or over the phone for current pricing and availability — our team is always happy to talk you through the best spot for 'King' in your garden.

About the Lavender 'King'

Attracts Bees & Pollinators:

This bold, big-shouldered lavender is a wonderful addition to a pollinator-friendly garden, actively inviting local bees to your beautiful outdoor sanctuary.

Wind Tolerant

The 'King' is wonderfully resilient and perfectly suited to handle those refreshing Bayside coastal breezes.

Flowering Season

You can expect this bold favourite to wake up your garden with its famous colour from late winter right through early spring.

Watering Needs & Drought Tolerance

Fragrant

Its rich, silvery foliage releases a beautifully calming scent, instantly transforming your courtyard or garden into a relaxing sensory oasis.

Mature Size

When perfectly mature, this larger, more robust grower will reach a generous height of around 70cm, giving it real presence in the garden.
